dallas, March 30, 2024 /CNW/ — AT&T* has confirmed that a dataset published on the dark web approximately two weeks ago contains fields specific to AT&T data. AT&T has made this decision, but it is still unclear whether the data in these areas is from his AT&T or its vendor. Regarding the balance of datasets that include personal information such as social security numbers, the origin of the data is still being evaluated.
AT&T has launched a robust investigation by internal and external cybersecurity experts. Based on our preliminary analysis, this dataset appears to date back to 2019 or earlier, impacting approximately 7.6 million current AT&T account holders and approximately 65.4 million former account holders.
AT&T currently has no evidence that data sets were compromised due to unauthorized access to its systems. We are actively communicating with those affected and, where applicable, will provide credit monitoring at our expense. Current and former customers with questions are encouraged to visit www.att.com/accountsafety for more information.
At this time, this incident does not have a significant impact on AT&T's operations.
