Lee Seo-hyun, the chairman of the Samsung Welfare Foundation and the second daughter of the late former Samsung chairman Lee Kun-hee, has been appointed president of Samsung C&T, returning to the conglomerate's construction and fashion divisions for the first time in more than five years.
He is in charge of strategic planning at the company, which handles construction, trading, and fashion businesses.
“Mr. Lee is expected to leverage his experience and know-how to make Samsung's cultural projects and social contributions successful, and contribute to improving Samsung C&T's brand competitiveness,” Samsung Electronics said in a statement Friday. .
The sister of Samsung Electronics Executive Chairman Lee Jae-young graduated from Parsons School of Art in New York and gained management experience at Cheil Industries, which has now merged with Samsung C&T and Cheil Industries Worldwide. She served as president of Samsung C&T's fashion division from 2015 to 2018.
Later, he moved to Samsung Welfare Foundation, Samsung Global Research, and Leeum, Samsung Museum of Art.
She will continue to serve as chairman of the Samsung Welfare Foundation and director of the Leeum Art Museum.
Mr. Lee's sister, Lee Boo-jin, is the representative director of Hotel Shilla.
