Google wants you to trust its AI-powered search enough to use it to plan your next vacation. Google's Search Generative Experience (SGE) helps you plan your next trip's destination itinerary, including highlighting must-see places, restaurants, and even an overview of flight and hotel options, according to a blog post released this week. Now it's helpful to do that.
The new system is built on Google's AI search response system, which searches the internet for different responses to a query. According to Google, SGE gives you all the details you need about the businesses you might visit, including photos, reviews, and other information. Of course, this doesn't take into account the problems SGE is already experiencing, such as the fact that he's pushing fraudulent and malware sites into his SGE results. We hope Google fixes some of that problem, but in the meantime, be careful which links you click.
Separately from SGE, Google is also introducing how Google Maps recommendations can help you better plan your vacation, including recommendations from trusted sites and locals who know all the best spots. I'm emphasizing it. This isn't actually built from AI, but more AI features may be introduced into his Google Maps and other Google products in the future.
It's not really surprising that Google is pushing more AI capabilities across its various projects. The company has made great strides in bringing out its Gemini AI chatbot, and we'll likely see these travel planning features brought to Maps, albeit in a different way. However, it will probably take some time before we can fully trust the information these AI tools spit out.
