Now that spring is officially here, DIY fans are turning to projects outside the home.
From cutting the grass for the first time this year to powering up your patio, it's time to prepare your outdoor space for warmer weather.
A mother of three has managed to make her garden stand out using just one product.
Essex resident Kelly Blanchflower picked up a can of beige multi-surface garden paint to update her shed and fence.
She used it on her flowerpots to help tie them into her neutral look.
Kelly said: “I love spending time in my garden, but recently it was starting to feel a bit deserted.
“I'm more of an interior designer than a gardener, so I was looking for a quick way to bring life to a space.
“We found that one can of beige paint was all we needed to completely renovate the area.”
She added: “I used just one can of Sadlin Superdeck for the fence, shed and wooden picnic bench and now the garden is unrecognizable.
“I chose a neutral beige shade, which made the space feel very bright and brought a sense of unity to all areas of the garden.”
Prices for Sadolin Superdeck paint start from £22.80 for a 1 liter can, making it a lot cheaper than replacing a worn-out one in your garden.
DIY fans will love Kelly's outdoor transformation.
“Oh my god how different, I love this color,” one person gushed.
A second person wrote: “Awesome. Well done.”
A third added: “Yes, that's right! It's called a glow-up.”
Meanwhile, a fourth echoed: “What an amazing transformation.”
Michael Rowland, managing director of The Paint Shed, praised Mr Kelly's renovation work which has “enhanced and widened” the outdoor space.
He says, “It's easy to forget to give your home's exterior the TLC it deserves, especially during the winter months.
“Spring is here and it’s the perfect time to invest in your garden to reap the rewards on sunny summer days.
“We love how Kelly transformed the look of her home using just one color can of paint.
“The beige hue instantly enhances and expands her outdoor space, really showing how big an impact color can have.
“If you want to paint a wooden exterior such as a fence or shed, choose a durable paint from a trusted brand such as Sadolin, Jotun Demidekk or Osmo.”
painting tips
Kelly provided the perfect painting tips if you want to refresh your garden…
The best way to paint a shed
“I wanted to use the same shade of paint for the shed, gate, and picnic table. I roughly sanded the panels of the shed first, then painted them methodically, one horizontal panel at a time. .”
The best way to paint a fence
“Painting the fence panels was more difficult, but luckily, thanks to the type of paint I used, I didn't need a separate primer. I also used Prodec Shed and Fence Brush, so the job went smoothly. It’s even faster.”
The best way to paint a picnic table
“The picnic table was weather damaged and required quite a bit of prep work before it could be painted. Here's a tip: go on vacation, have your in-laws house sit, and ask your dad to listen. I had my daughter-in-law sand it down so it was ready to paint when you got back. I did that and it worked great! ”
choose color
“I used to paint my house bright, vibrant colors to match the furniture, but over the past few years my tastes have changed and I've started choosing more neutral colors. I wanted to incorporate that into my garden as well. It is also to improve the cohesiveness of the whole house. ”
