A Hauppauge man was arrested Tuesday after police say the driver of a tractor-trailer, an 81-year-old man, was killed in a hit-and-run crash in Queens.
Kyle Shriver, 27, was charged with leaving the scene of a fatal accident, police said.
At 6:12 a.m. on December 28, New York City police responded to a vehicle crash near Northern Boulevard and Parsons Boulevard in Flushing.
Officers spotted Peter Theo, 81, of Flushing, riding an electric bicycle eastbound in the left turn lane on Northern Boulevard. Police said Seo then turned left into the westbound lanes of Northern Boulevard and collided with a 2015 International flatbed tractor-trailer traveling west on Northern Boulevard.
Police said the tractor-trailer continued west on Northern Boulevard and did not remain at the scene.
Emergency services rushed to the scene and pronounced Seo dead at the scene.
After investigation, police determined Schreiber was the driver of the tractor-trailer.
He is scheduled to return to court on May 2.
