A Liverpool mum has inspired thousands of people by sharing her home renovation journey on Instagram, revealing tips on how she turned a boring, drab semi-detached house into the property of their dreams.
Thanks to her brilliant renovation ideas, a woman with no prior home renovation experience has inspired thousands of homeowners to start renovating their homes.
Lindsay Ginan and her partner, from Halewood, Liverpool, bought the three-bed property in April 2018 for £170,000. Despite having no DIY experience, the couple got to work from the moment they received the keys.
Just two years later, they have increased the value of their property by £110,000 and gained 162,000 Instagram followers in the process.
The mother said in 2020: “When we came to see this house, we saw the potential. We wanted to open everything up and renovate each bedroom to make it a family home.”
“We had never renovated before and it was our first time, but we knew that with the vision we had, we could make it more than just a three-bed semi,” she says of Liverpool -Told Echo. “Some people see this house on Instagram and think it’s a £500,000 house, but it’s not, it’s just a three-bed house in Liverpool.”
Lindsay started documenting her journey on Instagram, and before she knew it, more than 130,000 people were following her on how to renovate their homes. She currently has 162,000 fans.
She said: “It's been a little crazy. It's been a little mental. People are following us to see how we've done it, what we've done, and for inspiration. I have documented everything to help others as well.'' Renovation work.
“A lot of people say, 'I didn't know how to remodel an old house,' so I just give a little bit of advice and stuff. I've hired people for major renovations, but most I did it myself. I did all the decorations.”
Of all the rooms in the house, the “mini spa” style bathroom is her favorite part, followed by the cozy living room. Furthermore, she added: “Obviously, the extension and the open plan and the bifold are the main features, but the bathroom is a big thing for me because the bathroom and how we remodeled it… now it's like a little mini-spa. I love my bathroom.'' It's like my little sanctuary with the bath and the feel I get from it. ”
The entire property was modernized and one of the biggest changes was to the exterior of the house. The once pebble-dash exterior was changed to bright white, with window frames to match, and the front door matched the wood interior. Step inside the property and you'll be greeted by glass railings, plush carpeting, and white tiles.
In the living room, the fireplace and patterned wallpaper have been replaced with a sleek, modern electric fireplace. On the second floor, the wall separating the bathroom and toilet was torn down to create a “sanctuary” for Lindsey.
Additionally, the spacious open-plan kitchen is the perfect place to entertain guests, with bi-fold doors opening out onto the garden and extending throughout the space. You can follow Lyndsey's home improvement account @.Home_at_242
