BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Looking for a place to make all kinds of crafts? DIY Disco Cocktails and Crafts offers all that and more.
Chloe McMahon, owner of DIY Disco Cocktails and Crafts, said: “We've created a space where people can not only come and create something unique, but mainly connect with the community, make new friends and meet new people.'' I wanted to,” he said.
Items you can create include earrings, belts, art paintings, jewelry boxes, beer caddies, drink coasters, and more.
“We have woodworking. We have polymer clay and cement crafts,” McMahon said. “We have a menu and it’s basically like a craft restaurant, but you know what you’re working on because you know how difficult everything is and how long it takes. I understand.”
The DIY Disco on Government Street offers the opportunity to sit down and create items for those looking for a simple, medium or even difficult process. According to McMahon, it can take him anywhere from 30 minutes to three hours to create an item.
Mr McMahon said this clever business also focuses on affordability for people who want to take care of their finances.
“So all of our happy hour crafts are under $20, while our regular crafts range from $30 to $50,” McMahon said.
DIY Disco is an 18+ only business with an alcoholic bar serving cocktails on a regular basis and bottomless mimosas on Sundays. McMahon believes that drinks are aesthetically pleasing and that drinking areas are more than just your average bar or business with a different focus.
“We still do Taylor Swift trivia events, and last summer we did a Barbie doll event,” she said.
For those who don't drink, mocktails are also available, and no artistic talent is required. DIY Disco also features seasonal drinks, a rotating bar, and a craft menu.
DIY Disco is open Thursday through Sunday. Reservations are recommended. You can make a reservation here. If the craft session is not full, walk-ins are welcome.
