When is the 2024 tax return deadline?
For most Americans, the 2023 federal income tax filing deadline is Monday, April 15, 2024. Due to the Patriot Day and Emancipation Day holidays, the tax filing deadline for Massachusetts and Maine residents is April 17, 2024. You can extend it for free until October 15, 2024, but note that you must pay any taxes owed by April 15, 2024 to avoid penalties and interest.
The completion deadline is extended to June 17, 2024 for those living in certain FEMA-declared disaster areas.
