Alzheimer's education seminar
The Community Foundation of San Benito County will hold an Alzheimer's disease education workshop for the public on April 11 about Alzheimer's disease risk factors, warning signs, helpful resources and other information.
Speakers include Philip M. Geiger, regional director of the Alzheimer's Association of Monterey, Santa Cruz and San Benito Counties; Christina E. Andrade has 40 years of experience in providing individualized services to caregivers, and she currently works as a senior family consultant at the Del Mar Caregiver Resource Center's Health Project. .
Mr. Geiger will manage all Alzheimer's Association activities, programs and service delivery in the tri-county region, building partnerships and working with health agencies and community organizations, while overseeing operations in both the Monterey and Santa Cruz offices. , government agencies and volunteers. Andrade graduated from Gavilan University in 1974 with an LVN certificate. Andrade has joined the Health Project Center team as the site director of an adult day care program.
The workshop will be held in the Community Foundation Epicenter San Andreas Conference Room, 440 San Benito Street, Hollister. Workshop sessions will be held twice, from 11:30am to 1pm and from 5:30pm to 7pm, and participants can choose which session they would like to attend.

Purchased tomatoes and seedlings April 27th
The South Valley Fleur Garden Club's annual heirloom tomato seedling sale will be held at the Hollister Veterans Memorial, 649 San Benito Street, April 27 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
For sale will be seedlings, perennials and annuals, all propagated by members of South Valley Fleur. There will also be crafts inspired by a variety of herbs, vegetables, flowers and gardens. There's even a table where kids can pot their own plants for free.
South Valley Fleurs is a nonprofit educational service organization affiliated with California Garden Clubs, Inc. and National Garden Club, Inc.
All funds raised from the April 27 sale will go to EduGrow Plant-to-Learn, a program that provides grants to youth groups and teachers who want to incorporate gardening into their curriculum. The club maintains gardens in Hollister, Gilroy and Morgan Hill.
Magnitude 2.5 earthquake shakes South Valley
On March 14, a magnitude 2.5 earthquake struck an area of ​​Santa Clara County northeast of Morgan Hill, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
The quake occurred at 3:38 p.m. and was centered in a remote area south of Mount Hamilton at a depth of about 9 miles along the Calaveras Fault Zone, according to the USGS.
No damage was reported.
