The University Huskies earned the top overall seed for March Madness in 2024, with the Purdue Boilermakers, Houston Cougars and North Carolina Tarheels taking the remaining three No. 1 seeds. UW is seeking its first national championship since the Florida Gators won back-to-back titles in 2006 and 2007. The Huskies finished with a 30-3 regular season record and won the Big East Tournament for the first time in 13 seasons. Dan Hurley's team will face Stetson in the opening game of the 2024 March Madness bracket.

2024 March Madness Bracket Top Picks
One of the model's picks from the Midwest region: No. 3 Creighton advanced to the Final Four, beating Purdue and Tennessee in the process. Greg McDermott is in his 14th season leading the program, and this year's team has the talent and depth to make a deep run. The model projects the Blue Jays to defeat No. 1 seed Purdue and No. 2 seed Tennessee on their way to the first Final Four in program history.
The Blue Jays were upset by Providence in the first round of the Big East Tournament, but picked up wins over UW and Marquette in the process, finishing the regular season with a 7-1 record. Creighton has three players averaging at least 17 points per game, led by senior guard Baylor Scheierman, who averages 18.4 points, 9.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists. Creighton has the experience of advancing to the Elite Eight last year and has some experience in the field.
Another surprise was Gonzaga, No. 5 in the Midwest, defeating Kansas, No. 4. The Jayhawks have struggled heading into the 2024 NCAA Tournament, losing four of their last five games. Bill Self's team has struggled on the offensive end, averaging 75.2 points per game, which ranks 124th in the nation.
Kansas has been held to 52 points or fewer in back-to-back games, which doesn't bode well against a team like Gonzaga. The Bulldogs are averaging 84.9 points per game from him, which ranks him seventh in college basketball. Gonzaga also ranks 21st in the nation in assists per game with 16.6. Guard Ryan Nembhard leads the team with 6.7 assists, 12.9 points and 4.1 rebounds per game. You can see his 2024 NCAA bracket picks for this model here.
