DETROIT — Amid the frenzy of free agency, the Detroit Lions secured their future leadership in the process.
The Lions have agreed to multi-year contract extensions with head coach Dan Campbell and general manager Brad Holmes through the 2027 season. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
“We are excited to sign Brad and Dan to contracts for the next four seasons,” Lions owner Sheila Hamp said in a statement Thursday. “They have been a driving force in the rebuilding of our football team and the success we have enjoyed. The continuity they will provide to our football program will benefit our future on the field. will continue to be the key to our success.”
Detroit is coming off one of the best seasons in franchise history with an appearance in the NFC Championship Game and its first division championship in more than 30 years. The Lions also tied the franchise record for most wins in a season (12) under Holmes and Campbell.
Campbell was hired six days after Holmes before the 2021 season and has been working with Detroit to develop a contender.
Holmes was named the 2023 PFWA NFL Executive of the Year. Campbell was a finalist for Associated Press Coach of the Year.
The Lions also reached a contract extension with Chris Spielman, president, CEO and special assistant to the chairman, who is also a former Lions player.
