North Georgia Tech University (NGTC) student Christy Campbell of Bowersville, Georgia, and adult education faculty instructor Randy Wood of Kernsville, Georgia, spoke at the recent Habersham Rotary meeting, where they were awarded the 2024 NGTC Adult Education Award. Selected as student and teacher of the year.
Campbell and Wood will represent NGTC at the Dinah Culbreth Wayne Exceptional Adult Georgian Literacy Education (EAGLE) Leadership Institute, March 25-27, 2024 in Atlanta. The Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG), through its Office of Adult Education, is pleased to announce that the annual Dinah Culbreath Wayne Eagle Leadership Institute is the first in the nation to recognize and honor excellence in students enrolled in adult education programs. It's a state-wide program. This recognition program is designed to increase awareness of the educational opportunities available in communities across the state and encourage a commitment to lifelong learning.
Ms. Campbell completed her GED in January 2023 at North Georgia Tech Franklin County Adult Education Center. She is currently employed as a catering director at her Chick-fil-A in Lavonia.
Wood is a full-time instructor and has been teaching in the NGTC Adult Education Department for three years. In addition to teaching high school equivalency prep classes day and night on campus, she also teaches at the Franklin County Adult Education Center.
“Kristi and Randy will represent NGTC at the 2024 Dinah Culbreth Wayne Eagle Leadership Institute,” said Shelby Ward, NGTC's Director of Adult Education. “Kristy has put in a lot of effort and we are so proud of her accomplishments. She has such a bright future ahead of her! And Randy goes above and beyond for his students. He is a dedicated instructor. He utilizes all available technology to provide high quality instruction and we congratulate him on his great achievements and are extremely proud of his excellent work with his students. I am.”
