The Steveston staple has merged with another U-Vin store in Richmond.
A longtime Steveston Village institution has closed after 24 years in business, but that doesn't mean it's goodbye.
Steveston Winemakers, a DIY wine shop located at First Avenue and Chatham Road, closed on March 12th.
But that wasn't the end, as the business merged with another Richmond DIY wine shop, Grapes 2 Wine, on Bridgeport Road.
The company's website and POS system will also be migrated to Grapes 2 Wine, and the new website will be grapes2wine.ca.
“It's especially reassuring to know that we have such a great relationship with Mark (Cordic), who started U-Vin over 30 years ago,” owners Bill Koopmans and Heather Hanna wrote.
“Customers can have confidence in his depth of knowledge and experience in the craft winemaking industry.
“There is also free parking right in front of Grapes 2 Wine.”
Koopmans and Hanna, regulars at Steveston Winemakers, took over the business in 2018 when the previous owner retired.
The couple purchased the business as a way to give back to the community after seeing the close relationship between staff and customers.
“We would like to thank Steveston for over 24 years of business, friendship, collaboration and support,” the owners wrote.
“We would like to sincerely thank our customers RJS Craft Winemaking, Steveston Merchants Association, Steveston Insider and Tourism Richmond for their loyalty and support.”
