Two local teachers have been awarded $10,000 each as part of their recognition as difference-makers in Southeast Texas classrooms.
The Beaumont Foundation of America today announced the 15 recipients of the 2024 Wayne A. Reed Excellence in Teaching Award.
Local winners include Alison Morgan McBride from Highland Park Elementary School and Robin McEachen from Nederland High School.
Since 2009, the Foundation has recognized outstanding teachers whose dedication and leadership inspire their students and fellow educators.
This award provides public recognition and financial reward to teachers who promote educational excellence throughout Southeast Texas.
Wayne A. Reed, chairman emeritus of the board, said education is the key to a better future, adding that good teachers are the key to education.
“Our award recipients are outstanding representatives of educational excellence,” he said.
Teachers are first appointed by a campus committee. Winners will be selected by the Beaumont Foundation and recognized at an awards banquet on May 14th.
Each person will receive $10,000 in recognition of their exemplary contributions to the lives of students.
