According to Business Insider, Apple is said to be testing an AI-powered advertising platform with a select group of partners.
The AI tool chooses where to place your ad in various promoted ad placement slots in the App Store. At the moment, this appears to be used to improve the performance of advertiser campaigns in App Store Search Ads. However, Business Insider speculates that the technology could eventually be used elsewhere as Apple gradually expands its offering of ad-supported services.
AI ad placement is not a new invention in the advertising space. Google, Facebook and others have rolled out similar systems in recent years.
It's a bit strange that Apple would prepare such a tool considering the small collection of ad types at the moment. In the App Store, developers pay a fee to[Today]tab,[検索]It can appear in tabs, at the top of search results, and at the bottom of other app product pages. (The company also sells ad campaigns for news and stock apps, many of which are handled by intermediaries like NBCUniversal.)
Of course, over time, Apple is likely to roll out more App Store search ad slots. It may also be preparing to expand where ads appear in other apps on your phone. This makes AI deployment tools even more relevant.
A few years ago, Bloomberg's Mark Garman reported that Apple had plans to expand its advertising business into other system apps, such as Apple Maps, and in-store, such as books and podcasts. However, nothing has been officially announced as of today.
