One man meticulously detailed the step-by-step process of building a tiny home from start to finish, keeping the total cost of the project to just $8,000.
“It’s been quite a journey to build a tiny house in my backyard,” he said.
Many people may think that building a tiny house is an easy task, but Manny's project revealed the potential pitfalls and costly errors that can occur.
He recently shared the entire process from start to finish in a video on his YouTube channel Builders Blueprint.
The project began with careful planning and marking the designated locations for the tiny house, and leveling the concrete deck blocks for the foundation.
Manny then used pressure-treated 2x6s and secured them into the grooves of the deck blocks to ensure a level base.
He meticulously made sure all the 2x6s were perfectly aligned and square, and reinforced each with a frame. nail Joy hanger for additional support.
“To insulate the subfloor, we chose half two-inch foam insulation,” Manny explained.
“This was a meticulous process, but essential to ensure energy efficiency.”
biggest challenge
“Framing the walls and roof was not an easy task,” said the builder, reflecting on the challenges faced during construction.
Luckily, my neighbor Tom came to help.
“Having an extra pair of hands to do all the heavy lifting made a world of difference.”
After adding shingles and waterproof wrap to make the roof waterproof, Manny turned his attention to installing windows and doors.
“Going out the window was a nightmare,” he admitted.
“It’s painful to do in real life, so I probably won’t do it again, and I don’t recommend it.
finishing
Once that “awful” process was complete, it was time to install the housewrap.
Once the exterior was completed, Manny added siding to enhance the aesthetics and selected boards and battens for a contemporary look.
He meticulously installed trim pieces and added finishing touches like paint and outdoor lighting to give the tiny home a uniform look.
Although the project seemed simple, Manny warned others of the potential pitfalls.
“Building a tiny home may seem like an easy task, but as this project shows, achieving both affordability and quality requires meticulous attention to detail.” he concluded.
