The Iowa Department of Education announced $3.5 million in grants that schools can apply for.
The Learning Beyond the Bell Grant should be used to improve before- and after-school programs that allow students to learn and explore their interests outside of traditional school hours. All schools in Iowa are eligible to apply for up to $200,000 in grants to develop or expand before- and after-school programs. If awarded the grant, schools would have to implement the funds through the spring and summer and into the beginning of the 2024-35 school year. Applications are being accepted at IowaGrants.gov and the deadline is March 29 at noon.
