At a high-profile technology expo in Saudi Arabia last month, a male robot powered by artificial intelligence apparently groped a female reporter during an interview.
As Al Arabiya journalist Raya Qassem was broadcasting live from Deepfest in Dubai, Mohammed said: “Saudi Arabia's first human-shaped robot” He reached out his right hand and grazed her butt.
Kasem was surprised by the android's unexpected advance. She quickly turned around to see who had tricked her.
It is unclear how Muhammad came into contact with Qassem, but QSS, the company that developed Muhammad, told British media outlet Metro on Friday that the machine acted “independently without direct human control.”
It added that all attendees, including reporters, were instructed to maintain a “safe distance” from the robots on display.
Muhammad was designed, in part, to work under conditions that could endanger humans. QSS said it had reviewed footage of the interaction between Mr Mohammed and Mr Qasem and found nothing of concern.
A video of the incident was taken own life on social media. Some users wondered if perversion was written into Muhammad's code, while others suspected Muhammad was trying to gently wean Qasem away.
DeepFest is “the premier gathering place for the global artificial intelligence ecosystem of thought leaders, changemakers, big tech, data scientists, innovators, businesses, academia, startups, and entrepreneurs who are leading innovation across the business.” It is advertised as.
