Alfie Templeman, who recently returned with his funky new single 'Eyes Wide Shut', will be releasing his forthcoming sophomore album 'Radio Soul' on June 7th via Chess Club Records/Awal Recordings. It has been announced that it will be released.
The LP, which follows his 2022 debut 'Mellow Moon', will see the multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and producer expand his sonic palette, incorporating elements from soul and psychedelia to indie and pop. Additionally, the work is the result of a series of his notable BTS collaborations, with co-production credits including names like Nile Rodgers, Dan Carey, and Justin Young.
“I fell in love with recording music again by planning a short trip to the US in February 2023, visiting Nile Rodgers in Miami and Oscar Sherrer in Los Angeles, then returning to meet some great producers in South London, I hung out with Charlie Perry, Karma Kidd, Dan Carey, Will Bloomfield and Josh Scarbrough,” Alfie explained. “Over the next five months, we will be working on our next album together.”
He continues: “Every song is intentionally different from the last. It's about the weird and wonderful, the big, bright, popping moments and the quiet, raw, introspective moments. When I first started working, I… What really got me excited was using music as a way to document my life. Each EP felt like a little diary, condensing the last six months of my life into a few songs. This album really reminds me of that, but this time it's a look back at my life as a whole. I finally feel a little more confident in fighting the darkness that always lurks around me from time to time. This album is 20 years old. It's about becoming, entering a new decade of your life and understanding how you got to where you are, even if you don't actually know how you got there.”
To mark today's announcement, Alfie has also shared the record's title track, which is themed around the negative impact social media has on our mental health, and will be releasing a series of in-store tours in UK record stores in June this year. announced the schedule.
