A car enthusiast has shared a DIY hack that could potentially repel water from your windshield when driving at high speeds.
In a YouTube video, the popular DIY car maintenance influencer shared a four-step process to make your car more water-resistant.
YouTuber Bill (@BillOfAllTrades2016) said in a video: “I'm going to show you how to get a water-repellent windshield and muffle the noise if your windshield wipers are noisy.”
Bill is a self-proclaimed “jack of all trades” who shares home and car DIYs, and his YouTube channel has over 14,000 subscribers.
First, the YouTuber suggests bringing your car in for a thorough hand wash.
He said once the car is dry, drivers should use a rayon-based towel to wipe off any excess dirt from the windows.
Next, he uses New Finish Car Polish, a Secret Service product, on the windshield.
“This is usually for car bodies,” confesses the YouTuber.
“But I also like using it on windshields. It gives a nice finish.”
Bill uses another clean rayon-based towel to dab the product with two fingers, then polishes the window.
“Dab it on your windshield until it's nice and foggy,” he suggested.
Then, once the solution dries, drivers can buff the product off their windshields, Bill said.
After going through a four-step process, Bill poured a bucket of water on the windshield.
The water fell off the windshield with little resistance.
“As you can see, most of the water is beading down,” he said.

Automotive experts are advising drivers to prepare their cars for spring weather.
Preparing your vehicle for winter weather or snowfall is more intensive to maintain safety, while spring weather may require you to restore your vehicle to factory settings to maintain resale value. You can put it back, the salesman said.
“Spring is here,” Detroit-based salesman Big Lindsberg (@lindsberg4real) said in a March 2023 video.
The salesman offered five driver tips for drivers looking to preserve their car's value. One tip was free.
Another auto expert, Lauren Fix, said drivers should continue to maintain their tires as temperatures rise.
“You probably want to check the sneakers on your car, the tires,” she said.
“No matter how you drive, only four of your tires touch the ground, so don’t forget to check your tires.”
