Microsoft has updated Bing Webmaster Tools with new useful insights and reports to help your site perform on Bing and search in general. Bing Webmaster Tools now has a new IndexNow Insights report that shows you more than just the URLs submitted to IndexNow. Bing also added a new Top SEO Insights report that shows you the top SEO issues.
Fabrice Canel, principal product manager at Microsoft Bing, announced this today at PubCon and shared the news on the Bing blog. The number of URLs that IndexNow has submitted has reached 2.5 billion, up from 1.2 billion six months ago. Cannell also added that his IndexNow accounted for 17% of new URLs clicked in web search results.
IndexNow Insights Report
The new IndexNow Insights “provides actionable insights into the URLs IndexNow submits to improve visibility and rankings,” writes Fabrice Canel. This report provides both top-level metrics and detailed reports. The original report showed URLs submitted within the last 24 hours. New reports show URL counts and trends, as well as more actionable insights. This report also shows URLs that were discovered through crawling or other means rather than using IndexNow.
Here is a screenshot of the report:

why do you care
If you haven't yet implemented IndexNow, you'll want to research what it takes to make it work for your website. If you're using Cloudflare, all you have to do is turn it on. Additionally, many CMS platforms support IndexNow out of the box.
Additionally, be sure to check out the new tools within Bing Webmaster Tools.
What is IndexNow?. IndexNow provides a way for a website owner to instantly notify search engines of the latest content changes on her website. IndexNow is a simple ping protocol that allows search engines to recognize when a URL and its content has been added, updated, or deleted, and to quickly reflect this change in search results. IndexNow collaborative sharing went fully live last month in January 2022.
How to use it. The protocol is very simple. Simply create a key on your server, post the URL to search engines, and notify search engines participating in IndexNow of your changes. The steps include:
- Generate a key supported by your protocol using an online key generation tool.
- Host the key in a text file named with the key value at the root of your website.
- Starts sending URLs when they are added, updated, or deleted. You can send one URL or a set of URLs per API call.
Sending a single URL is as simple as sending a simple HTTP request with the modified URL and key.
The same thing works using https://www.bing.com/IndexNow?url=url-changed&key=your-key https://yandex.com/indexnow?url=url-changed&key=your- key
