A DIY enthusiast was heavily ridiculed for painting his kitchen countertops white. Her makeover is so criminal that she even thinks she should be sent to jail.
Crafty Briya Shade was fed up with having to constantly 'clean' her brown kitchen worktops, so she shared her makeover on Instagram.
The woman, who is currently renovating a “1970s parsonage,” says that not only was granite difficult to maintain, but “it was also difficult to keep clean.”
Ideally, she would like to replace them all, but since Briya is still saving money, she had to come up with a cheaper alternative.
Instead, Briya, who is believed to be from the United States, decided to paint over the granite using a special “marble countertop kit.”
However, the DIY enthusiast was convinced that she wouldn't get the effect she wanted, so she insisted on a simple white background.
Sharing the makeover on her page, the woman said: She said, “My ultimate plan is to replace it completely one day, but until I can save enough money, this paint will do!”
“I used @rustoleum's marble countertop kit but didn't do the marble veining because I know myself well enough that I don't like the look of terracotta. Because I know it's not there.”
Briya, who said the original granite exterior was the “issue” of her existence, said she didn't mind the criticism.
“I don't care what the haters say. This paint worked very well and seemed durable enough.”
But while the crafty ladies may have been overjoyed by the change, social media trolls were completely unimpressed.
Hundreds of people raced to comment in utter horror, sharing their opinions on the new countertops.
One person thought, “Painting on granite is a psychotic act.''
Another agreed, adding: “It's hard to get home values down these days, but oh my god, she brought them down 10x.”
Another person begged: “You have a hidden talent.” Keep it hidden. ”
“Drawing on granite?!?'' A fourth person said, unable to believe his eyes.“He's going to jail.''
Fortunately, the feedback wasn't all negative; Breeya also had some praise.
''well done! All these people are worrying about your kitchen when your kitchen is your kitchen. I think it's a wonderful love! ”, a fan responded to the mean comment.
Another person thought they made the right choice by painting their countertop and writing, “Granite really is ugly as sin.”
Another was completely baffled, writing: “I don't understand how people can be so picky about how other people decorate or renovate their homes.”
