The Lumina Foundation was named one of seven winners of the Great Admissions Redesign, a competition that revolutionizes the admissions process and improves access to higher education for all students. (CPE).
“Lumina is excited about the number of talented applicants who are working to reimagine the university admissions process,” said Melanie Heath, Lumina's strategic director. “As a winner of The Great Admissions Redesign, CPE is demonstrating leadership in streamlining procedures and promoting inclusivity to ensure all students have a fair opportunity to pursue their educational goals.”
After reviewing more than 70 applications in a rigorous selection process and using criteria such as simplicity, innovation, and a commitment to ensuring fair and just outcomes for Black and Brown students, Lumina has implemented and awarded $3.1 million in planning grants.
CPE's Kentucky Student Success Collaborative will receive $150,000 to foster a collaborative, student-centered design thinking continuous improvement approach to address long-standing barriers and untapped potential in the admissions and financial aid processes. Dollars were awarded. The project also includes a public artificial intelligence (AI) webinar series that explores opportunities to use AI to enhance campus capabilities and streamline the admissions process.
“This planning grant from Lumina will help Kentucky accelerate progress on our statewide priority of streamlining student pathways to baccalaureate degrees,” said CPE Chairman Dr. Aaron Thompson. .
Additional grant recipients include the Illinois Higher Education Commission, the California State University System, and Northern Arizona University (all implementation grants). So are the Louisiana Board of Regents, the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, and the Washington Student Achievement Council (all planning grants).
Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education
