Democrats who waived Hunter Biden's deposition said the president's son, Jared, received a $2 billion investment from Saudi Arabia after Trump left office, while Republicans investigated Biden's business dealings. He said it raised a “double standard” in turning a blind eye to members of the Trump family like Kushner. White House.
“I think [Hunter Biden] I'm a little irritated by some of the double standards when it comes to funds, where Jared Kushner and Donald Trump are openly lining their pockets while he's president, and of course Jared Kushner just brought home $2 billion from Saudi Arabia. Maybe. And all of those things were part of the conversation, and he was proactive about it,” said Rep. Jamie Raskin, the top Democrat on the House Oversight Committee.
Democratic Rep. Dan Goldman similarly said, “One of his most powerful lines was when he made it clear that no business deal he's ever had was with any government agency. He noted that unlike Kushner, he received $2. As soon as he left office, he received 1 billion yen from the Saudi government. ”
“I think everyone noticed that some Republicans were nodding when Mr. Hunter suggested that Jared Kushner and $2 billion from Saudi Arabia was worth investigating,” Goldman said. Stated.
Democratic Rep. Jared Moskowitz said after the president's son asked why Republicans weren't interested in Kushner's business dealings with Saudi Arabia, “some Republicans in the room said for the first time, We said, 'No, we have a problem with that.' “”
Raskin said he understands why the president's son would want to testify publicly, given his candor in the past.
“I understand why Hunter Biden wanted to testify publicly, because I think he would answer every question the public has based on all his propaganda to everyone's satisfaction. “I also understand why our Republican colleagues don't want him to testify publicly,” he said.
