Tableau, the data visualization platform acquired by Salesforce in 2019, begins rolling out Tableau Pulse, an AI-driven experience designed to make data accessible to anyone, regardless of data visualization platform expertise. doing.
Pulse also allows users to create custom metrics homepages based on KPIs that are relevant to them. This acts as an automatic data news feed, eliminating the need for manual filtering. Tableau Pulse is available to all Tableau Cloud users.
3 layers. Pulse is built around three layers.
- A metrics layer that lets you set up metrics and KPIs once and use them consistently across your organization.
- An insights platform that automatically generates surfaced insights according to predefined metrics and KPIs.
- Next generation experience. Deliver insights to your users in their preferred workflows like Slack, email, and more.
Generative AI is at the heart of this service. Users can query the Insights platform using natural language. genAI creates data summaries for next-generation experiences.
why do we care? AI is an incredibly complex technology, but we'll continue to see ways in which it simplifies tasks for users, from metadata tagging to coding to sentiment analysis. Data visualization was supposed to be a big step toward making data accessible to business users who are not data scientists. Layers of AI now allow users to talk to data, ask questions of it, and deliver accessible data digests in workflows.
Future features. Tableau plans to continue adding features to Pulse throughout the remainder of 2024. This includes:
- Access Pulse via the Tableau mobile app.
- Metric goals and thresholds.
- Additional metric types.
