Google search results are highly personalized. For each query, there are different levels of personalization based on:
- Search history,
- Interaction (click) history,
- Searcher properties in search console,
- position,
- Browser settings (e.g. language).
So, for example, what a merchant sees on a search engine results page may be different from what a shopper sees. Here are three ways to depersonalize results to understand what other users might see for your important keywords.
Chrome Incognito Mode
Incognito mode prevents Chrome from saving your browsing history, cookies, site data, or form completion information.
Searching Google using incognito mode removes the three main types of personalization: search history, clicks, and Search Console properties, but not necessarily location information and browser settings.
To access incognito mode, go to File > New Incognito Window.
From there, use a third-party SERP extraction tool to copy them to a local file. For example, Serpsonar exports SERPs, including ranking URLs, titles, and descriptions, to an Excel file. The Chrome app SEO Minion lets you copy the entire displayed SERP with one click.
Keyword Insights
Keyword Insights freemium SERP Explorer can extract up to 100 results per query. The tool extracts all components of the SERP, not just the organic search results.
It also provides country or city specific SERPs without the need for a VPN service or proxy.
To start a new SERP Explorer project:
- If you have not specified a global keyword in the ip metric table, please enter the global keyword in the ip metric table.
- Select your target location and language.
- Select the type of search results: Web, Images, News, Shopping, Videos,
- Select your device: desktop, mobile, or tablet.
Extracted search results can be easily copied and saved locally.
SERP Explorer offers 5 free searches per day and limits exports to the top 10 results on desktop. To access all features, upgrade to the Professional level for $145/month.
