Saturday marks the 41st drawing of the Jackpot Run.
The numbers drawn for Saturday night's $1.3 billion Powerball jackpot were 22, 27, 44, 52 and 69, with a Powerball of 9, the Lottery announced.
Powerball earlier announced that the drawing had been delayed because participating lotteries needed to “complete required pre-draw procedures.”
“Powerball game rules require that all tickets sold nationwide be checked and verified against two different computer systems before winning numbers are drawn. This is done to ensure that every ticket sold in the Ball draw is taken into account and given an equal chance.'' Tonight, we have one jurisdiction to complete its pre-draw process. “Additional time is required for this,” Powerball's statement said.
The Powerball jackpot had ballooned to an estimated $1.3 billion ahead of Saturday night's drawing after a record-tying streak with no jackpot winners.
The Powerball jackpot hasn't been won since January 1, when a ticket sold in Michigan claimed an $842.4 million jackpot.
Saturday will mark the 41st drawing in the current jackpot drawing. This is the most consecutive drawings without a jackpot winner. According to Powerball, in the past he has reached the Powerball jackpot 41 times before anyone won the grand prize, and he has only two other Powerball jackpots.
The estimated $1.3 billion jackpot is the fourth-largest jackpot in Powerball history and the eighth-largest overall if you factor in the Mega Millions jackpot.
If a player wins the Powerball jackpot on Saturday night, they can choose between an estimated one-time payment of $608.9 million before taxes, or an annual payment of $1.3 billion, also before taxes. Initially he will have one immediate payment, followed by 29 annual payments. Payments that increase by 5% each year.
According to Powerball, the odds of hitting the jackpot are 1 in 292.2 million.
Powerball tickets cost $2 per play. Tickets are on sale in 45 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
