Sebastian Stan had to overcome the challenge of wearing facial prosthetics in “A Different Man.”
The 41-year-old actor will star as Edward in the new film. Edward is an aspiring actor who suffered a disfigurement to his face and had to undergo reconstructive surgery and adapt to the physical demands of wearing his prosthetic limb in order to move on with his new life.
“I only have vision in one eye, and I can't see people coming from the other side very quickly,” Sebastian told The Hollywood Reporter.
Director Aaron Shinberg revealed that the prosthetic leg even affected Stan's performance later in the film, after Edward underwent reconstructive surgery.
The filmmaker said, “Even if physically the prosthetic leg is gone, it will still be there for him (mentally).”
He said, “The prosthetic leg was something I thought to myself when I was writing the script, saying, “Maybe it'll work out in the end.'' But with three weeks left until filming, I was like, 'What am I going to do here? 'I feel like that.'
The film depicts Edward falling in love with an actor named Oswald (Adam Pearson). Oswald plays Edward in the film, which is based on his past life, but Simberg had trouble incorporating his prosthetic leg into the picture until Sternberg came to help with makeup. artist.
He said, “The prosthetic leg was something I thought to myself when I was writing the script, saying, “Maybe it'll work out in the end.'' But we have three weeks left to shoot, and I'm like, “What are we going to do here?” There is no movie without that prosthetic leg. ”
Sebastian was a producer on the film and said he had full confidence in Simberg's vision for the project.
“I remember Aaron coming in and saying something that no director had ever said before, which was very helpful at the time,” the “Falcon and the Winter Soldier” star said.
