Teacher of the Year: Four additional area educators received Teacher of the Year awards.
Bixby Public Schools announced April 20 that Melissa Lytle has been named Teacher of the Year for the 2023-24 school year.
Lytle, a special education teacher at Bixby North Intermediate School, has been with the district for more than 20 years.
Bartlesville Public Schools announced April 18 that Ranch Heights kindergarten teacher Kelsey Carmichael has been named Teacher of the Year for the 2023-24 school year.
Stillwater Public Schools announced Thursday that Rebecca Palmatary has been named Teacher of the Year. A STEM and computer science teacher at Stillwater Middle School in Palmatarie, he has been with the district since 2006.
In addition, Wyatt Garth, creative marketing communications instructor at Tri-County Technology Center, was named Region IV New Teacher of the Year by the Career and Technical Education Association.

Support Employee of the Year: Bartlesville Public Schools announced April 18 that Maria Olga Herrera has been named Person of the Year. Ms. Herrera is an interpreter at Jane Phillips Elementary School.
Title VI hearings: Union Public Schools' Indian Education Program will hold its annual public hearing at the district's Educational Services Center, 8506 E. 61st St., on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.
School forum: Union Public Schools will hold a forum for students in grades 9-12 who have applied or are interested in applying to alternative education programs on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. in Building B of Union Alternative School. Emergency certification renewal: At Thursday's meeting, the Oklahoma State Board of Education approved 27 emergency certification requests. Since the start of the fiscal year on July 1, the board has approved 4,135 applications for emergency certification.
